Hop Harvest
My fingers smelled so good after picking them. I wish there was something that tasted like this to drink. Ooops, there is! IPA!!!
I love hops. Watch them blow in the breeze.
These are the cascade hops. They were planted last year so this is the second harvest and it was an amazing year! They are drying now and I need to find a vacuum sealer to save them for my beer this fall.
Ex-Wife IPA
This weekend saw the release of my homebrew, the Ex-Wife IPA (thank you Chris for the great name idea).
The Ex-Wife is more bitter than I expected, but I guess that is what happens when you have four hop additions. Brewed using a True Brew kit but not following instructions (seriously instructions are not my forte) This IPA pours a beautiful golden amber colour and has a big determined head. The lacing stays on the glass like a champ.
The aroma is hoppy with hints of grass, citrus, and rye bread. I say rye because it is a bit harsh but bready. The flavour is more of the same. Hops are present throughout and just never let you rest. This is a BIG beer.
It was a big hit at my BBQ Friday night and I drank it throughout the weekend. There is still some left so get it while you can at my place.
M-Dog IPA, day 2

Just a quick update on the M-Dog IPA.
I checked on it this morning and it is happily bubbling away in the corner of my dining room. Of course Marcos is interested in what is over in the corner (potential issue?)
M-Dog IPA?

I spent most of today brewing a batch of IPA (potentially going to be called M-dog IPA). The 5gal is sitting in the corner behaving itself and I am exhausted. Of course I say I spent all day because it took almost half a day to clean the kitchen well enough to brew in. Last night’s homebrew meeting inspired me and I ran with it.
This IPA is a 60min boil with 4 hop additions. The process went smoothly and hopefully the keg I ordered will be here in time so I don’t have to bottle it, I hate bottling.
I took pictures throughout the process for you to see what I was up to. Enjoy, and expect a review of the M-Dog soon.
