Three Philosophers Belgian Style Blend

Well Brewery Ommegang does it again with this Quadrupel. Amazing big beer. Belgian style brewed here in the USA, in fact within reasonable driving distance. That is why I sport their sticker on my truck. You can count on them for fine ales!
Pours a beautiful copper colour with a quickly dissipating white head. I have honestly kept putting off drinking the Three Philosophers because of the fact that it is brewed with cherries and I hate fruit beers. Of course Ommegang would be one of my few exceptions. How do they make me like cherry beer?
The aroma is slightly medicinal. Not total NyQuil but like a slight hint of alcohol and herbal stuff. You know what? It was more like some of the medicinal stuff I get from my naturopathic doctor, not like mass produced medicinals. More like real medicinals.
The a Three Philosophers is a blend of Belgian dark strong ale and Lindeman’s Kriek (a classic cherry lambic directly from Belgium)
The flavour is kinda different. Yes the cherries are there but there is much more going on than just cherries in a beer. You can taste the malt backbone to the beer and the yeasty highlights. So nice, nurse this one all night people.
